I am impressed with the P900 footprint versus the 3880. will probably all be in the exploration at some point in the learning curve over time.Įpson makes really wonderful printers. Probably the only thing that doesn't interest me a lot, is glossy.

well, let's just say my temperament is explorative, so I'm sure I'll do the same with printing. To answer in advance: As to the question of what am I going to be printing. I prefer to spend $$$ on solutions, not problems.Īfter going through the reviews, it has me feeling like the 17' options are A) few, and B) risky.

I don't mind spending a couple $$$, but I hate wasting $$$. I really don't need problems and headaches when trying to take on a new undertaking. Heck, a few folks had even written 'praise' about how they were on their 3rd or 4th (replacement) printer. What's really bothersome about these reviews is the number of folks who wrote really detailed reviews of the experiences, and the number of them that posted photos of failed prints, etc. BUT, machine is crap.' in each camp is a bit bothersome. Suffice to say that the amount of reviewers that said (different variations of), 'Prints are great, WHEN. So, I'm looking at BH Photo and going through the reviews of the Epson P900 and the Canon Pro-1000. I know the ink costs are better at 24', but 13' is definitely worse. 13' leaves me a bit cold on the size limit, and the cost of ink $$/ml. I 'could' go 24 inch, but the size, weight and the fact that it's my first printer probably means I've got a learning curve to go through and it might be a while before I get to a place where I feel comfortable laying down that much ink. I figure 17' is large enough to be versatile, something I can 'grow in to', without being a beast or breaking the bank or the back. So, I'm finally at the place where I want to get a printer and start doing my own.
